Hi,
This is my first time posting on any forum ever so a new experience. I can’t seem to find the answer to my question anywhere else, so I am hoping that I can get it here.
I am 36 and close to my 3rd anniversary of running, about a year ago I started structured running instead of leaving the front door as fast as I can and then fading throughout the miles. I did too much too soon and developed shin splints which I took time off from running and with physio help I am slowly ramping up the miles in a base building phase for a HM at end of March 19. Mileage will top out at 47 miles a week at the peak of the plan (Pfizinger).
To help with training volume without additional impact I have a road bike and turbo trainer. The question is do I mirror the type of periodised workouts (base-lactate-vo2max) on the bike, or do the opposite to achieve more volume but overall balanced intensity.
